Getting big!

Today Maddie and Katie had their 1 month doctor appointment - they grew! Maddie is now 20 inches long and 6 lbs 12 oz. Katie is 19 inches long and 6 lbs 10 oz. They are in the 5th percentile of their age group, which is normal for preemies. They also both went to the bathroom ALL OVER the table. What a mess. They both received a shot and mommy cried more than babies. They don't have to go back for another month!

It was pouring rain today so we dressed them in matching velour tracksuits (thanks, Tiare and Aunty Vanessa!)

Maddie is finally big enough to go in the swing - she's smiling!

Katie found her thumb and sucked on it for a long time tonight.

Maddie and Katie's friend Miya came over this afternoon - she is 4 months old and sooooo adorable. She leaves to go home to Hong Kong on Monday--we'll miss you and can't wait to see you again in the summer.

Turkey Day

Maddie and Katie had a great Thanksgiving - they ate and slept...what could be better? Here is a picture of them with their two grandpas.

Today Maddie and Katie were both awake in the crib. We checked on them and saw that Maddie had been licking Katie's head and Katie's hair was all wet....I guess Maddie thought her sister needed some extra conditioner =)

Happy Thanksgiving!

We are thankful today as we celebrate Maddie and Katie's first Thanksgiving. We feel like a real family with these two beautiful girls. We tried to dress them up in more festive attire, but they are still too small, so we put them in onesies that we hope reflect what they are thankful for ;). We wish each of you a happy and safe Thanksgiving day. Please know that we are very thankful for all of your love and support. We couldn't have asked for better friends and family members. We love you all!

A & B

Everyone always asks us which twin was "A" and which twin was "B". The doctors labeled the girls "A" and "B" while they were in the womb based on who was lower. Baby "A" is always the baby that is lower and baby "B" is the higher one. Baby "A" comes out first followed by baby "B". So, to assist with an confusion, we put them in their appropriate onesies (thank you Aunty Maddie for making these) on their 4 week old birthday.

First Baths

Tonight we decided to give the girls their first "real" baths as opposed to sponge baths. What an adventure. Thank you to Aunty Tammy for the pink hammock that we used in the tub---it sure looks comfy! Katie and Maddie both seemed to enjoy the warm bath at first, but once we washed their hair, they started to cry. Taking them out and towel drying them caused more screams. They finally settled down when they were swaddled and had little hats on---whew!

The Dogs....and Babies

Today Lucy and Leia had their vet appointment for the semi-annual shots and a check up. The vet had to draw blood to check for heartworms (negative) and Leia came home with a band aid - it was so cute it even had paw prints on the band aid! I guess the vet tired them out because they were crashed on the couch all night. Toby decided to play photographer and place the sleeping children next to the sleepy dogs - it was interesting as the dogs tried to run away - Toby managed to get them all on the couch together - here are the results!

On the way to 4 weeks!

The girls are growing FAST! They are starting to look more identical - luckily Katie has more hair (darker and longer) so that is how people are telling them apart. On Saturday they are celebrating their one month birthday! I can't believe that it has been almost a month already. We go to the doctor on Monday the 30th for their first set of shots - yikes! I think I may cry. Anyways, here are some photos for your enjoyment.

Happy 3 Weeks!

Maddie and Katie turned 3 weeks old yesterday - boy time is flying! To celebrate, they had a visit from Uncle Harvey and Aunty MH. Thanks for all the diapers and wipes! We sure go through plenty of those every day. The girls are changing - their faces are filling out and they are gaining some weight. We hope they are at least 5 lbs now---I can't wait until they can fit into newborn clothes - so many cute things in their closet that I am excited to have them wear, once they can fit it!

Visit with the great grandparents

Tonight we took the girls to visit their great grandparents (Maile's grandparents) and their great, great grandma (Maile's great grandma). You should have seen the joy in their Tai-Gung's face when he got to see the girls for the first time. He recently had hand surgery so he has been exercising so he could carry them. He was so happy to meet them and rocked each girl to sleep. Here are some photos.

We Love Mom and Dad

Uncle Stevie and Aunty Lily gave Maddie and Katie these adorable t-shirts. Although they are a bit big, we had to put them in them - aren't they cute?

The Stroller

Today we took the girls to Hawaii Mother's Milk and to visit my doctor's office - we got to use the stroller! What an adventure - we had lots of comments from strangers, but it was fun. I had to take pictures of our first stroller outing. Enjoy!
